2016 Quilt Show-Vendor Information

 “Quilts of Many Colors” Quilt Show

March 19th and 20th, 2016



On or before January 15, 2016 to complete the Vendor/Exhibitor’s Information page and pay the appropriate fee.  Checks should be payable to:

6.    Each vendor will be asked to provide a gift for the raffle drawing.

I have read and agree to abide by all of the guidelines for participating in the Sisters Quilting Collective “Quilts of Many Colors” quilt show.  I understand that SQC reserves the right to ask any vendor to leave the premises if she/he breaks a City Ordinance and/or guidelines of SQC.

Vendor shall defend, indemnify and hold harmless SQC, the Oak Park Community Center, and the City of Sacramento, their officers, agents or employees, from and against any and all liability.  Loss, expense, attorney’s fees, or claim for injury or damages arising out of the performance of the Agreement but only in proportion to and the extent such liability, loss, expense, attorney’s fee or claims for injury or damages are caused by or result from the negligent or intentional act or omissions of vendor, his/her officers, agents or employees.  

Space is available in the form of one six (6) foot long table and two (2) chairs. Vendors may bring up to two additional chairs,

Vendors must carry their own liability insurance and Seller’s Permit. There is ample parking, loading and unloading spaces.

2016 Quilt Show Celebration








Save the dates:
Sisters Quilting Collective’s (SQC) 2016 Quilt Show will be held Saturday, March 19 from 10:00am -5:00pm and Sunday, March 20 from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Oak Park Community Center at 3425 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817. 2016 theme is “Quilts of Many Colors.”   Admission to the quilt show is $7.00

The two–day Quilt Show will feature: beautiful handmade quilts, lectures, children’s activities, raffles, wearable art, dolls, a general store, SQC’s 2016 Opportunity Quilt, vendors and much more.



Friday, March 18 at 5:30pm at the Opening Reception and Trunk Show Extravaganza, at the Oak Park Community Center, 3425 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.  Ms. Horne will the  present a Trunk Show Extravaganza featuring her prizing  winning  quilts,  jackets, vests, purses and other fiber art related items. Cost: $15 for SQC members and $20 for the general public.


Connie Horne of Elk Grove, California will be the featured quilter and fiber artist at the 2016 Quilt Show on Saturday, March 19 from 10-1pm.

The “Sisters Quilting Collective” is seeking quilts from California quilters in celebration of Women’s History Month.


The Quilt Show will be held at the:

Oak Park Community Center

3425 Martin Luther King J. Blvd.

Sacramento, CA 95817

Eligibility: Quilts must be constructed by the person or persons named on the “Artist Statement.” The maximum size for all quilt entries is 80” x 80”. Once the selection committee accepts quilts, substitutions are not allowed.

 Quilt Entry Submission: The committee will accept up to four (4) quilts per artist for consideration. Please provide a brief description of each item and/or comments of interest regarding your quilt (25 words or less).

Entry Fee: A non-refundable $25.00 fee for each accepted quilt submitted,

(maximum 4). Please do not send fees until you receive notification of acceptance. Fee is payable by check or money order made out to: Sisters Quilting Collective. Mail fees to: P.O. Box 5486, Sacramento, CA 95817: “Attention Quilt Show Committee”.


Deadline for jpegs or photos must be received by Feb. 15, 2016

Accepted Quilts: All quilts that are accepted should be free of pet hair and smoke odors. Quilts must be ready for presentation. A four-inch hanging sleeve and identifying label (artist’s name, title of quilt, and price if for sale) must be attached. Sisters Quilting Collective reserves the right to refuse entries that do not meet this criterion or are misrepresented by the photos and digital images.

Quilt Return Shipping: The artist is responsible for paying return shipping cost if the quilt does not sell. The artist must provide a US postal, FedEx or UPS shipping label with the quilt/s to facilitate return. Please include two (2) completed return shipping labels per item. Labels should also indicate which shipping method you use. Please use well labeled packaging that can be re-used for return shipping.

 Sales and Liability: If quilt entries are not available for sale and are for exhibit only, please indicate this on the entry form. All accepted quilts will be handled with professional care and every precaution will be taken to protect your quilt/s. Neither the Oak Park Community Center nor the Sisters Quilting Collective is responsible for loss or damage of quilt/s prior to receipt of quilt or after return shipping of quilt/s. The artist is responsible for all shipping and insurance costs to and from the quilt show.

Shipping instructions will be included with notification of acceptance.

National African American Quilt conference, June 2017
Tara Wilson Evans of the Black Girl Quilters came up with the idea of hosting a National African American Quilt conference, June 2017.   A facebook page was created serve as a survey tool for the event to see all who may be interesting in attending or instructing workshops during the quilt conference. If you yourself are interested in hosting a workshop or know anyone who may be, please contact: Marla A Jackson at marlajackson028@gmail.com for further inquires on the event.
The African American Quilt Convention 2017, the theme is the Underground Railroad. Please start those quilts now 40x40.

SQC founding members Jan Hollins’ beautiful quilt DAYS GONE BY" has been selected for inclusion in the special exhibit Hands All Around 2015: International Quilts in October 2015. This year was one of the hardest years for jurors. Over 110 great quilts were entered into Hands All Around 2015: International Quilts. Only 34 quilts were selected. Congratulations to Jan!!!!!
