Barbara Range of the Brickhosue Art Gallery hosted the chidlren's area during the 1st Sacramento Annual Black Book Fair, (SBBF).  SQC members participated by staffing a children's activity

 Congratulations to Jan Hollins. She entered her beautiful 3-dimensional quilt "Days Gone By" in the Pacific International Quilt Festival and it was accepted. It will be judged in the quilt competition and on display at the Santa Clara Conv...ention Center, from October 16th through the 19th, 2014. This beautiful quilt has already won 2nd place last February in the Sisters Quilting Collective Quilt Show

 
at the Brick House Art Gallery and 3rd place at the California State Fair in August

Gloria Grandy, a member of SQC won third ( for her dolls) place @ the California State Fair. Her first time entering. The dolls are just beautiful!!!

The mission of the SQC is to bring awareness of the historical value of African-American quilters and quilts of the African Diaspora, as well as to celebrate and continue the tradition of quilting.

 

Membership: The Sisters Quilting Collective (SQC) is a membership based organization. We welcome quilters, textile and fabric artists, doll designers/collectors and the general public to join our collective.

 

History of Sisters Quilting Collective (SQC): SQC had its beginning in 2012 after an exhibition of quilts held at the Brickhouse Art Gallery.

Departure:       10:30 AM from Freeport Blvd and Florin Road

From the Bel-Air Shopping Center Next to the Old CVS Pharmacy

(This store is now closed)

 

Arrive:             12:30 in Oakland

Lunch:               Will be provided by the African American Quilt Guild (free of charge)

 

Departure:       3:15 PM

Come enjoy and talk textiles. Chat with quilt historians, doll makers and wearable art clothing designers.  Bring your favorite quilt, wall hanging, purse, wearable art and dolls to show and share.
