Sisters Quilting Collective (SQC) is a community partner with the Sacramento Black Book Fair (SBBF), June 6, 2015

Sisters Quilting Collective (SQC) will provide children's related ( quilting/sewing activities) in the Kids Zone  at the Sacramento Black Book Fair (SBBF),Saturday June 6, 2015  from 10:30am -5:30pm .

 
The Youth and Children’s Fun & Literacy Area (Kids Zone), will be located at the Brickhouse Art Gallery, 2837 36th Street, Sacramento, CA 95817, Saturday, June 6, from 10:30am-5:30pm, and Sunday, June 7, from 12noon-5:30pm. The Kids Zone will feature storytelling, reading, Sacramento Public Library’s book mobile, book give-a-ways, face painting, music, games, books, poetry, music and much more. Young children must be accompanied by an adult.

2016 Theme: "Quilts of Many Colors”




Sisters Quilting Collective (SQC) members are busy planning for the 2016 Quilt Exhibition, entitled "Quilts of Many Colors” scheduled for Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Oak Park Community Center. 

The exhibition will feature colorful quilts, a country store, children’s activities, a beautiful designed opportunity quilt, raffles, book display and much more!!

SQC celebraes Black History @ February Membership Meeting


In celebration of Black History month SQC members celebrated with delicious soul food, a book display highlighting books about African American quilting and textile designs; and a special presentation to the Oak Park Community Center.

Fiber Art Masters Invitation to Fiber Artists to Exhibit
What: “Musical Threads” Art Quilts, Wearable Art and Art Doll Exhibit
Where: Underground Books, 2814 35th St, Sacramento, CA 95817
When: Women’s History Month, March 2015
The exhibit will run from March 7th, 2015 through March 28th, 2015 at Underground Books and is open to fiber and textile artists who create art quilts, unique wearable art and cloth and art dolls. Works must be created with a musical theme from the African diaspora. This includes Gospel, R & B, Jazz, Reggae, Blues and Hip Hop. The works can be inspired by song lyrics, musical instruments and symbols or a tribute to a musical artist from the past or present from Billie Holiday, Bob Marley and Muddy Waters to Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keyes and Shirley Caesar and everything in between.
Maximum art quilt size is limited to 36” wide x 48” long. Original dolls should be created or dressed in the spirit of “Musical Threads”. Maximum height of dolls should be no more than 24”. Original wearable art items should also represent a musical theme.
Email entry submissions begin January 15th, 2015. Deadline for submissions is February 14th, 2015. Photo entries should be emailed to: famsacramento@gmail.com
