SQC's News

The Sisters Quilting Collective (SQC) is organized to celebrate, preserve and continue the traditions of quilting and fiber arts and to keep quilting and fiber arts alive for future generations. The purpose of the annual SQC quilt and fiber art exhibit is to promote, educate and create an interest and an awareness in the historical value and contributions which quilters and fiber artists throughout the African Diaspora (di-as-po-ra) have given to the art of quilting and fiber arts.

Sacramento welcomes back world renowned poet and author Dr. Eugene B. Redmond for  two special events in July:  Friday, July 12, 2013 @ 7PM, Master Barber & Beauty Shop and Nickel n'a Nail presents: The 2nd Annual An Evening with Dr. Eugene B. Redmond at the Brickhouse Art Gallery (2838 36th Street, Sacramento, CA  95817 AND:  Saturday, July 13,  for the 2nd Annual “Drumvoices for Ahaji: A Festival of the Arts” from 2:00 to 5:00 pm., at the Women's Civic Improvement Club/Center , 3555 3rd Ave., Sacto, CA 95817.  The afternoon program will also feature: a panel discussion, drumming, vendors, poetry, art displays, book signings and music.
